If these were on a scale several sizes larger, they’d be possibly used for baking something from the cake recipes of Betty Crocker, but at these extremely small sizes, I’m imagining them as being used in the construction of decorative beads or ornamental textures.
@Alec The copper shells are a modern/traditional Native American design ("Indian" jewelry from the Southwest) . That exact punch (not shown) was made by a friend from Laguna Pueblo. I made the trimming die that cuts the flange away from the bumped-up shells. The other punches shown are my variations on the theme. I'm combining the old techniqes (hand held punch, hammered into a depression to make the shells, then hand sawing the flange off) with the newer (low tech, by modern machining standards) die process that I'm good at. To form the bead shells in one or two steps in a hydraulic press, and trim in my cutting dies.
@Alec How It's Made , I still catch that show sometimes. Also fun Chinese ForgePorn on youtube . Actually, very small scale forging will be one stage (that I've never tried yet) of this tool making project. I've scrapped together a small furnace with stuff lying around. Weed burner for fire.
@sheltech hee hee....I should have been more clear. I guess it was more directed to Alec since he lives in San Francisco and he mentioned Tool and Die😁

These three remind me of Japanese warrior/familial/tribal/royal crests. Actually that middle one is the Mitsubishi logo, the famous Three Diamonds.

Thanks for letting us in on the process. 🙏
Thanks for appearing interested 😂
@sheltech am interested. I'll admit that I'm between the "huh?" and "huh!" stages with what you've presented, though.
Used to never miss that TV programme 'How It's Made.' The music put me in a strange state, though.
Just this morning, the all-seeing, all-knowing YouTube algorithm provided me with this ...
The traditional handicrafts of making Xuan paper (UNESCO) ...
Thought you might find that interesting as well as these other recent ones that were gifts to me from YouTube ...
Strange History of Chakra / Chakram - Ancient Weapon of India (Paveen Mohan) ...
A 1200 Year Old Vimana - Alien Flying Machine? (Paveen Mohan) ...

Nice work, if you can do it - and you can!
The Tool and Die on Valencia in SF had some fantastic punk gigs in the 80s. The Mab as well. Happy days!
Took me a minute to figger that out 😂 I live in Valencia county , and SF to me is Santa Fe. Reading the 2nd part of the 1st sentence helped a lot.
