The music he is known for has never been my kind of thing but - I must say - when attending (as a teacher) one of the huge concerts for 'Young Voices' a few years back I was hugely impressed with how he really threw himself into performing for the adult audience and alongside the singing kids. I've had a (slightly grudging) respect for him ever since.

AND he was treated like shit by Gary Kemp simply for wanting to carry on singing the songs that he was best known for, so my sympathy there as well.

I'd have never expected the 'massive fan of Bill Nelson' bit but he's continuing to go up in my estimation.

Interesting what you've described.

Have you seen the television appearance with Sandie Shaw, Gary Kemp, and Bill Nelson that I posted not long ago? It's the three of them offering critiques of David Sylvian's "Brilliant Trees". This led to Bill and David collaborating on music.

I don’t know much about Tony aside from what I know about Spandau Ballet vis-a-vis the New Romantics, Steve Strange, Rusty Egan, Boy George, Blitz, Club For Heroes, and Visage.

I still love that massive Spandau hit song “True”. I like the promo as well.
