i'm really pleased that Bill's back catalogue is being made available as digital downloads.
i remember the old website years ago where i was regularly shouted down for asking for these - being told that the "aural/sonic landscapes should be treated and respected like a great painting - and my request was like requesting an inferior print of the original!
It took nine years to sell the 1000 copies that were originally manufactured, it wouldn’t be cost-effective to produce any more as the demand isn’t there.
This is why Bill is making his back catalogue available on Bandcamp, digital downloads may not be everyone’s favourite format, but it is a way of making the music available without having boxes of unsold CDs sitting gathering dust.
I think once you get past the potential mind-block of 'going digital', it makes so much sense in lots of situations...Photography, developing images and music, are good examples for me...First and foremost, as you point out Jon, Bill's back catalogue is being made available, so you can purchase the ones you missed!...It's a no-brainer really.
Some of the advantages of investing in downloaded music are, it's quick (instant), clean (reducing plastic packaging etc), and very convenient...not to mention, generally cheaper to purchase.
The music you get is good quality, you can take it anywhere and play on all your mobile devices and you're not taking up any physical space and getting swamped at home, with 'more stuff'.
I like to get the (what I think are) the extra special recordings on physical disc, but if they were only available as a download, I would now be fine with that. I think it just takes a little period of mental readjustment to accept that, you know what, digital downloads are pretty darn good, and in many ways, make much more sense.
Of course, you can always burn your own CD, from the download files and print out the artwork (if available) and viola!, you have your own homemade CD.
The way I see it nowadays is, take advantage of all formats, don't pit them against one another, but run them in a harmonious tandem, and you'll be covered on all levels and you really can enjoy them all...😎
This is a beautifully crafted album. Not a bad song in the mix. A must have for all Bill Nelson fans, in my opinion. I bought it when it was first released, and it still stands as one of my all-time favorites. When I first listened to this album some of the tracks brought me to tears. I still get a little teary eyed when I listen to it after all these years. I'm glad to see it being made more widely available.
As soon as I saw the announcement the title track popped into my head and has nicely circulated there all morning. Coach Matt describes its qualities well.

Glad to see that pretension has faded😀
How about re-releasing the CD in limited edition?
Instant classic on this one and not to be missed by any Bill-afficianado: "Memory Is A Data Cloud Forever Primed With Rain".

Ten years ago! Will give this a spin, as it seems a while since I listened to it. A masterclass in the art of songwriting. 🍂🍃🌻🐝
Such a delightful, lovely set of recordings. Always brings sunny summertime feelings to my state of being.
