Oh dear - covid's finally arrived! Feel dreadful, but never mind, i've got plenty of music to help me through - still feel like i've only scratched the surface though - spent ALL yesterday listening to Trial By Intimacy in it's entirety several times - amazing stuff & have been revisiting The Years & Plaything.
Today, though, i'm concentrating on New Vibrato Wonderland & getting to know this album quite well now. I'm noticing a kind of fuzz/distortion/scratched record sort of effect on most of it & wondering if that's just a feature of my copy?
I'm loving 'Hide & Seek', 'I Oil The Ticking Of Antique Clocks' , 'Mercuria Magnetica', 'Bless Me, Bless You' & 'In The Middle Of A Dream ... and ... this world is certainly Crazy Right Now - can't seem to relax until i know Trump has finally gone - currently obsessively glued to CNN to follow Georgia run-offs!
My world ended when baseball was shut down in March 2020. Shortly thereafter my employer furloughed everyone for 3 plus months and after they brought us back, reduced our hours and had periodic shut downs. So plenty of stay at home time. The governor shut down whole segments of our economy, so there wasn't anywhere to go, even if I wanted to. This made Christmas shopping different. But Bill put out these couple of albums and I have been listening at home a lot.
I have a continued appreciation for Jazz of Lights, Arcadian Salon and the new to me reissued together as a complete collection for the first time ever ABM singles with bonus tracks. I have had several COVID-19 tests due to exposure and they have all come back negative. I have been told that as a Tribal Elder with underlying health conditions I will be prioritized for the vaccine. Yaaaah. It won't give me superpowers, I have been listening to the Dreamers Companion Volumes as well.
So get well. In in the meantime, live well.
Having a hard time getting into this one. But no fear. Dreamland to Starboard --I couldn't get into for about the first year...then one day it "hit me", now it's one of my faves. Now that I'm retired and have Cancer, I'll have plenty of time to get into it.....and the other Ten or so albums you've recorded in the last year or two that aren't out yet.
First of all, very best wishes Steve. I'm hoping you get well soon. Not a nice thing to deal with I'm afraid.
Regarding the sounds that you mentioned on 'New Vibrato Wonderland.' They're intentional and are a feature of some of the drum and percussion samples and loops found in the Cubase sample library. They're deliberately meant to be that way with glitches and crackles and other electronically distressed effects. So, don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your CD!
Take special care of yourself Steve!
Hope you feel better soon. Take care.
