Thanks Bill. Steve Conway was a favourite singer of both my parents. He died in 1951. Quite similar to Al Bowlly. Re Jon can we send PMs on this forum?
Bill, autumn leaves mentioned in one of the Vulcan Street track titles. Is this influenced by the late Steve Conway? PS nice to be able to access the forum - very hit and miss the moment :(
The paragraph about Lynne Holliday is so cinematic, it really takes the reader to the scene. I think of something like Singin' in the Rain.
For me one of the ultimate guitar solos has to be Scotty Moore's in Elvis Presley's 'Heartbreak Hotel' ... was there a particular solo of Scott Moore's that impressed you, Bill?
Is the version of 'At The Sign of the Swinging Cymbal' you heard, by Brian Fahey, on Parlophone, 1960? https://youtu.be/5BpQ_1RnolU
This version by Brass Incorporated sounds to me practically identical: https://youtu.be/33vc3U1X7co
