On the album version of "Life in the Air Age", was a pedal flanger used or was the effect applied post-production?

I always thought a guitar flanger pedal...It's a great song and one of the best on Sunburst.
If the effect you are referencing is the whooshing noise that links but separates the tracks I think this is truly inspired. In the latest re-release included in the magnificent Boxset it’s magically realised….the album as it was imagined running continuously. Very special.
