Thanks Alec - I too had Chimera and previous albums at the time of Vistamix's release (I've bought all Bill's output since the release of BBD's "Modern Music", which I first heard "on my radio" by the way).. But I did not know the origin of the Vistamix title. Thanks for that tid-bit of trivia. :)
Bill mentioned it either on this version of the forum or the one that disappeared. It reminds me of Sunburst Finish and Silvertone Fountains both names being inspired by names of guitars.
I too first heard Modern Music for the first time not long after its release in its entirety on the radio. The first time I heard Bill’s music was that same year in the backseat of a car and I was 10 or 11 years old. Sunburst Finish in its entirety played. It sounded somehow like everything and nothing I’d ever heard.
Vistamix: Even though it was a compilation of Chimera plus a couple of the catchiest tracks from each of the previous two albums, it made for an extremely strong LP collection. Vistamix was a valiant effort by the record company to expand Bill’s U.S. fan base. Unfortunately, I don’t think it made much of an impact, but I’m glad to hear that it at least reached Quinnault.
I got Vistamix long after I’d gotten all that it comprised. Didn't know that it was named after the mixing console, Studer VistaMix, until a few years ago.

If you want to talk super group - Bill, Yukihiro and Mick Karn. Sure, let's hang out sometime. I'll do a song with you. What could have been!
I will add my American ignorance. I had not heard this until I owned and loved Vistamix.
Flaming Desire, Empire of the Senses, Do you dream in colour? and A kind of loving were the US additions. I framed my album. On Epic/CBS.
I lasted about 20 seconds with that squawking voice..no.....sorry.
Love the sensibilities of this “Passionate Reply” presenter.
Love, love, love this terrific mini album. Glow World is my favourite track xx 😎
