I am getting a ' Widget didn't load' message for the chat function. I have disconnected my VPN, cleared cache and cookies and logged out and in. Still not working.
Any ideas?

Seems to be working again. I still have to disconnect from my VPN to make it work.
Mine does that sometimes. In fact, it disappeared for a few weeks or longer and then, as if by magic, it reappeared! You never know. Also, try it on the Spaces app on your phone. When mine disappeared from my computer, it was still accessible on the phone.
