Hi, Bill,
Just had a thought, the last time you had a major update of your studio you released the original Noise Candy set as a way of clearing the decks, would you not consider doing something similar to tie off the vast number of albums that are sat waiting? I know the experience last time wasnt too great (sorry for opening old wounds) but with Burning Shed behind a project now I'm sure it would be a lot less painful for you. Plus I don't think you'd have any issues selling a "deluxe" item, the market for such sets seems to be burgeoning at the moment, plus you'd have the backup of selling downloads for anyone that wanted a less expensive option.
Just floating the idea but if it becomes a reality I'd like to reserve a set!
Cheers,
Mick
I think this is a brilliant idea, though I gather it would be a whole lot of work
to get a lot of the unreleased albums mastered and produced with art work
etc etc etc. But yes, I would certainly buy the set. I expect it would sell out
fast.
On the other hand, though I am sure some people would complain...which is
a natural part of being human....Bill should consider that when he releases on
Bandcamp albums that were previously released on CD, that he add a few tracks
(new ones). That would inspire some folks to buy the download even if they
own the hard copy. I certainly would fall for it.
Good points Andre for sure, but I doubt Bill would want to 'dilute' those Bandcamp releases with extra tracks either old or new, even as a 'bolt - on', as they would move the album away from the original and considered idea and project context......those 'new tracks' may well not fit in with releases on much older albums, and would probably fit better with new releases....I can see what you are saying as a possible idea though - it's just, for example, when Mercury released Quit Dreaming, Love That Whirls and Chimera years ago, all the extra tracks were pretty much in the camps of the original recordings, so the content and context were sympathetically added to......
