Shine 2023

I dedicate this piece to Twilightcapers who did a wonderful job on the tab. I've taken certain liberties, and it is an abridged version of the song from the Live in the Air Age album. It's quite rough in sections and I freely ad-lib in parts. I basically jammed my way through it, and I'm tempted to refine it if I get the time and inclination. I read that Bill refined LITAG in the studio, so I may have another go at it, re-record it, and maybe even put some tap delay on the guitar (which I think you hear in the original).

I hope Bill is well on his vacation/sabbatical from Dreamville. Not only that, but I've been away myself with COVID, which made me nearly lose my mind with anxiety and depression. My wife got the sniffles and a cough from COVID, meanwhile, I was contemplating suicide. Strange world we live in. Anyway, this is it for me. I've learned a lot from doing this song. I have also done AIAYL and A Private View which are Bill's guitar songs that have impressed and intrigued me the most.

Very nice Vlad. I must congratulate you for having the courage to attempt this challenging material. Thanks for the dedication although I'm not sure I deserve it since I'm only the transcriber of the wonderful music of Bill Nelson. It's good to know that someone is using the tabs, and thanks again for the kind words. TC

Thanks, Twilightcapers. And thanks for commenting on YouTube as well. I know how hard it can be to transcribe. You have been very helpful. In the old days, before the internet, I had to sit for hours with a turntable and slowly figure parts out. Now on the internet, there are all kinds of tabs and slow-down devices. I recently did the Rolling Stones song GIMME SHELTER with Chris Rockheart, and we had to figure it out with all the parts. Luckily for us, there is a video call deconstructing Gimme Shelter where you hear every part the Stones recorded. I wish I had that back in the 70s. But the good part of transcribing is that you develop your ear. You're right, Bill's music is challenging, especially the fast parts. I should go back and redo the piece because it is sloppy, and I've melded sections together and gone off on a long rambling solo in the end and (maybe my worse sin) tried to be funny. Overall, it's too loose, too cornball, and too heavy-handed. It's a demo that needs to be done properly.

Here is GIMME SHELTER where we had a lot more accuracy with the parts. In this case, there is no ad-libbing like in a concert. It is still hard because there is a lot to take in. So I appreciate your efforts. Thanks again...
