I've been nursing an idea for a new album project for next year....I've felt that I should tackle something of substance, something really complex but utterly beautiful, something challenging, (perhaps more so than albums such as 'Sailor Bill' and 'Golden Melodies Of Tomorrow.')
I want it to reflect all aspects of my musical history, but in an integrated fashion where everything flows organically. It may take the form of one long piece, occupying an entire album, not quite a symphony but an extended composition with 'movements.' It will have all sorts of textures, electronic, orchestral, amplified guitar, acoustic guitar, drums and percussion, vocal, choral, etc but all working together in an epic manner. At this point in time, it's just feelings and intuitions but I've chosen the working title 'GRAND AUDITORIA.'

I have a couple more volumes of the 'These Tapes Rewind' '80s home recordings to release next year so putting these '80s recordings out may help to free up time to work on 'Grand Auditoria' (as they're already recorded pieces.) I just need to choose the tracks and decide on running order and work on package design with Dave Graham.
Even so, 'Grand Auditoria' may not see the light of day until maybe autumn of next year as I don't want to rush the project. It may even require a double cd to accomodate its vastness.

Just bees buzzing in the hive of my head at the moment but, hopefully, lots of honey later! :)

As long as the finished work is what you want it to be, I'd be happy to wait two years for it.

But in the meantime, please do keep putting work out, old or not. I missed getting a lot of your records when they came out, and I often find myself going through your discography, thinking "How did I miss that?"

It sounds a wonderful idea Bill, and as Doug says happy to wait as long as it takes.

What with the wonderfully enticing 'Dreamshire Chronicles' and now this beauty to add to the list of forthcoming releases it seems we are heading into a golden period of listening experiences 8)

Your description of the basis for 'Grand Auditoria' sounds so exciting, Bill! AND, the news of more 80's tracks to be published is a real treat. My secret wish, is to one day listen to an album of modern "covers" of your own material; not live, but studio re-imaginings! Ahh, I can still dream...

Cheers, Roger

I like this idea Bill. Would really like to hear you put together some akin to a symphony:

NELSONICA SYMPHONICA! :D

Also like the idea of making something to reflect your musical history. Were you thinking of making it chronological or no? I was also wondering if you were thinking of integrating the musical history with your personal history...maybe that would be too difficult, too personal, or maybe you don't want to. I think it would be lots of work to pull that off, but fascinating.

Hi Bill. I am sure you dont need suggestions on your project...but...Just saying....I'd love to see something like this using a "Model Village-ish" format...Complete with digipac 8)
