Did my ears deceive me or did I just hear London Calling ringing out on ITV1 over a British Airways London 2012 advert :)

I think I did, what next Pretty Vacant on estate agents Ad's, New Rose on Garden Centre's, the combinations are infinite :P

Bet BA paid a small fortune for this tune though.

Yes, I commented to my other half when I saw the Clash/BA advert. The song is totally inappropriate. It's as though some advertising dweeb chose it on the basis of its title and never having heard it.

Would Strummer have approved?

Brings to mind Ronald Reagan quoting from Born In the USA during the 1984 election campaign,

He definitely didn't listen to the lyrics then!

Both of those involve a degree of irony and have the participation of the artist. The BA ad doesn't; it 's just bizarre and mismatched.

Which reminds me, someone is using ‘Mr Blue Sky’ yet again. Must be right up there as the song most used on UK television,

Notice the heavy editing ?.There is no mention of the wheat is growing thin. That must be a bit too sensitive in the current climate.

Frankly, I can't see that any of the lyrics reflect positively on the BA experience!

There's also an annoying ad where a band of pretty young things are driving in their new Kia car to play at a gig: The music is a cover of Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've) only the You Shouldn't've part is dropped as that would imply that they Shouldn't've fallen in love with the car
