La's, Irish Centre Leeds. Scally central. Just about every single car within a 2 mile radius done. Super-human levels of drug abuse openly on show everywhere in the venue. The band were absolutely shit btw.

Lords of the New Church, somewhere in central London about '84-ish. Stiv Bators set the tone by trying to hang himself from the lighting rig with the mic lead. It wasn't just a stunt, and the roadies had to rush on and get him down. The atmosphere got pretty nasty after that.

David Bowie. "Heroes" tour. Sydney Cricket Ground. I can't remember what the actual year was.

Awesome show.

A cricket ground in Australia? I think you may have misunderstood the question.

I think there's one somewhere. ;)

All the big acts did arena gigs there in the 70's and 80's.

Respect to major acts who travel to the other side of the world and ditto, for folk like Crowded House, INXS or Kylie etc!!!

STYX in 1978 Municipal Auditorium in Austin Texas. The audience was invaded by high school kids doing drugs and mostly picking fights and throwing beer at the band. I dont mind it if folk (in the good old days) had some dope in the concert because it mellowed them out. BUT THIS was a horrible experience, and me so anxious to see Styx in the days of The Grand Illusion.

PiL at The Ritz in New York in 1981. They were recruited last minute to sub for Bow Wow Wow. The place was packed beyond capacity and the crowd was loud and boisterous and getting drunker staring at the giant video screen across the proscenium. Flowers of Rmance started playing and a video of the band appeared in a "live performance. It was only when lights from the stage projected the silhouettes of the band onto the screen that we realized that the "performance" we were seeing was happing right behind the screen and included lip synching and pantomime . The crown erupted in rage. Lyndon came out from behind the screen and in a singsong voice chanted. "I've been swizzed, I want me money back." Levine came out to yell at the crowd and a hail of beer bottles cascaded across the auditorium to crash against the stage. Lyndon and a brave roadie who came out to rescue him were hit, the crowd surged toward the stage, the screen crashed to the stage in a tatter and tangle of fabric and pipes. The show, needless to say, did not go on.

That sounds like an interesting event. I think I would probably have preferred it to seeing Bow Wow Wow!
