I intended to. I read some awful reviews after you mentioned it.

unexpectedly excellent creeper, if not quite what I was expecting
and Elizabeth Olsen is particularly good and as the camera stays on
her for the WHOLE film, this is no bad thing!

I watched it with every intention of loving it, regardless of reviews. But it beggars belief. It's hard to even say what kind of film it's trying to be. There is nothing remotely tense or thrilling -- it has a comedy Scots henchman in a kilt pulling 'amusing' faces (yes, there is an under the kilt visual joke, too). For the first three quarters it's a sort of light entertainment romance/comedy with a cowboy in it. The dialogue is mostly terrible, some of the acting is very wodden, and it has an irrelevent two minute scene with Christopher Lee tacked on, shot against what appears to me to be (though I'm no expert) a badly done blue screen effect from the eighties.

Apart from that, it's great.

Dark Shadows.
Horror/Comedy camp from the always-winning team of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. Fun movie. Depp is deft as a properly Victorian vampire thrust into 1972 America , hanging out with and then sucking the blood of hippies , battling the witch whose curse made him a creature of the night , etc. The trailer of Burton's 'Frankenweenie' looks like it will be lots of fun too.

well it's OK I suppose, super violent and lots of guns, broken bones
and some spectacular deaths but kinda left me cold like a corpse
left on the veranda after a rather chilly night in some light drizzle.
Not the best action movie of this year let alone the decade but worth 7/10
if you are a bit pissed.

Will probably see Bernie (Jack Black, Shirley Maclaine) and may also see Yellow Submarine (again). :)

I enjoyed Chronicle for what it was 8)

A relatively unique take on the chance accident or discovery which usually leads to the birth of a superhero

It's ok, you don't need to make excuses because it wasn't intellectual enough

My favourite film for a while I'd say.
