I regret to inform Bill and Dreamsville friends/fans/fanatics/obsessives(the last one's me) that my son Zak's fave song has changed from Do You Dream in Colour to a Bowie song called 'I Have Not Been to Oxford Town' from Bowie's Outside album -really sorry Bill - I imagine this comes as a real shock to you and I only hope you find the inner strength to cope with this devastating news - there is a website you may wish to visit that offers help at this difficult time-www.my fan's son dosen't like Do You Dream in Colour as much as he used to any more.com -I hope they can offer you some support at this difficult time -please try and continue with your life as it was -it may be a chore to consider continuing with planning Nelsonica and everything else after this news but please try to do your best..........for all of us.....chin up etc.

My wife's fave song is still Powder Blue so that may be some comfort to you

Paul, just face it. He's forced your hand. Given you no choice. He's embarrassed you. You know what you have to do. Use his pillow. It's kinder that way. Once he's asleep he won't put up much of a struggle. I know, the idea repulses you now. But really, it does get easier with time. I know. I used to have a pretty good size family myself. The usual, three or four kids, a half dozen wives. But they hurt me as well. Come home to find the radio on tuned to Capital Radio instead of a disc from the pre-approved Nelson catalogue.

Then things went from bad to worse. I felt trapped and with few options. But I knew instictively what I had to do. Take them all out. During the course of one night so as there would be no one left to be suspicious. To make a long story short, it's been truly liberating. I can listen to Bill 24/7 and there's no one to complain if I want to put one particular Bill song on repeat for 72 hours.

No, I can assure you it's been well worth it. The hardest bit has been to bribe certain civil service employees to 'adjust' my records in regards to my marital status and that strange misunderstanding that at one time I had five children. Ha! The only other snag were the neighbours who had the tendency to ask a lot of inconvenient questions. But nowadays I'm well prepared for such eventualities. Bought some pigs, haven't I? And if you've ever listened to old 'Bricktop' from Snatch, he tells you, pigs chew through bone like it's butter...

My son is 22 and a decent guitarist (not fit to hold one of Bill's guitars but you know what I mean) - I brought him up on BBD and Bill's work and his mum played him a lot of Simple Minds

He used to have several BBD albums on his Ipod as well as examples of Bill's solo work. My ipod died recently and I borrowed his while out walking the dog. Imagine my dismay when I found BBD was no more on his list. Only "Quit Dreaming" and 5 tracks from "Sound on Sound" remain :?

Its a slippery slope to musical oblivion I fear...

Can this be reversed??? :( :( :(

Tell him you now hate Bill's work because it's unfashionable and, frankly, subversive in its disregard for the norms of society.

That might do it.

Perfect. I'm seriously smiling at that response. You're a very good sport Paul. :D

Certainly could work with some and less risky than my advice. The old reverse psychology still works a lot of the time.

But sigh. I fear this may just be the tip of the icberg. This thread may end up being a long one.

Poppycock !!! . I don't believe you had half a dozen wives and and perhaps as many children , then offed them all because they didn't appreciate you musical preferences. Two or three wives and a couple of kids , tops; I know you're not a heartless , unreasonable monster :D .
