Hi All,

Just found on Amazon a 2 CD & DVD set of the Gentleman Rocketeers live at the Metropolis Studio.

Pre order £12.48 release June 4th.

Good news for those who missed out on the DVD the first time around, and a nice to have, if you want the music on CD.

Hopefully some more income for Bill too.

TaTa :)

First I've heard of this. I'll get my management to look into it. Seeing as I haven't received a penny in royalties from the first DVD, I doubt if I'll be getting anything from this. I have no idea what the cd will be like as I didn't know they were doing one and it may be just the mixes I originally rejected as being god-awful. (Which is why I took on the cost of remixing and repairing the live recordings for the original DVD.) Why don't these people have the decency to consult the artist or their management before issuing these things? I'm not a happy bunny, I'm afraid.

You'd think after you personally taking the trouble to create superior mixes, they'd have the sense to use those. I'm not sure how much sense is involved with these decisions though.

Depending on the intention of the rights holders, this is a bit of a shame on a number of levels.

Firstly, Bill was left out of pocket after agreeing to this enterprise. He only agreed to do this on the basis that the performances were going to be broadcast on network television, thus perhaps increasing awareness of Bill's current and back catalogue of work.

This of course, has so far failed to materialise........

Secondly, this will no doubt be a popular item given how successful the original DVD release has proven to be. If Bill is to see no re-numeration from this enterprise then it takes the shine off of what should be a celebrated performance, I know that those of us who own a copy of the original DVD certainly cherish it.

Thirdly, as Bill asks, what sound mix are they going to use for this? Surely if they are going to use the mix that Bill and John Spence provided and Bill paid for out of his own pocket, then Metropolis or whoever it is should be consulting Bill about it's use and ensuring that financial costs are at least covered :?

3 disc set. DVD of the band set, DVD of the solo set and a CD of the lot. These are going to fly off the shelves. Not just to fans who didn't manage to get the original DVD, but I suspect, due to the inclusion of a CD, those of us who were there too.

Looks like the usual cynical marketing stunt to make more money off the back of something they know is a popular seller. I have no idea what contractual obligations (if any) they have towards you, Bill, but we're probably being naive to think some sense of honour and fair play would prevail.

Hi All,

I did think it odd that we hadn't been tipped off about this release here, but from experience I know Amazon sometimes jump the gun on releases to get pre orders in. So I thought that this was perhaps still a long way off being ready.

As a non musical person I find the music industry strange, I do a days work and get paid for it, yet somehow this doesn't seem to apply to musicians they are always fighting for what is rightfully theirs!

Hope your management will ruffle some feathers and you will get paid what you rightfully deserve! :x

Hmm, that may be the key, although I doubt they would use the original mixes when Bill's improved mixes have already been for the original DVD. I assume they'd use the same transfer to manufacture the DVD discs, then take the audio from them for the CD. Bill's management definitely need to have a word though.

I notice in this listing that it says: "New Material" although the track listing is the same as the original DVD (which I must admit I have). Hmmm; they couldn't even be honest about that.

I'm saving up for the new BN releases that have been discussed on these boards.

So much for the moral rights of the artist.

I think I'll pass.

I've now informed my mangement, (who also were unaware of this,) and they are looking into it. I'll let you know what the outcome is .

Meanwhile, I see that some chancer on Amazon is selling a second-hand/used copy of Noise Candy. The asking price? A snip at a mere £952-99p. Well, as you all probably know, there will be a high quality re-issue of the Noise Candy box set via Cherry Red/Esoteric before too long, so, only a well-heeled idiot would pay almost £1,000 for a second-hand copy! And surely anyone with that sort of money to spare would be intelligent enough to wait for the re-release? Or not?
I'm just astonished by these ridiculous asking prices... :o

Don't worry Bill. No well-heeled idiots round here. Just ordinary ones
