Can there be such a thing as a perfect album?

I think Aladdin Sane by Bowie or Horses by Patti Smith come close, but even they have their faults.

Can you think of an album that has no flaws? Would such an album even be desirable?

I think Dark Side Of The Moon is perfect, right down to the artwork.... everything about it really.

One man's flawless album is another man's 'what the frack is that ghastly noise?'.

I think there are some albums where the whole is more than just the sum of the parts.

Sailor Bill is one such for me, whenever I listen to it I play it from beginning to end.

For starters, I'd go with Red Noise. As close as can be to perfect.

King Of America - Elvis Costello

What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

A kind Of Blue - Miles Davis

Not neccessarily my favourite albums but there is something about them that as albums, brings them close to an ideal of perfection, which of course is only an ideal, and possibly a foolish one at that

There's just a completeness and flow to King Of America that does it for me 8)
