I was lucky enough to meet Chuck at Nelsonica (03 I think). He was a great character and a lovely man. A very sad passing.

I too met Chuck in the foyer at Bloomsbury in 2004. Quite apart from him being a nice guy he took the time to talk to my son Marcus who was also behind the merch stall. A long-time Bill fan talking to a new one.

Sympathies to those close to Chuck.

Shock only begins to cover it.

I'm another who never met Chuck Bird, but always appreciated his work with the Bill Nelson site.

I'd gotten a really nice e-mail from him almost three years ago, when I was trying to lobby Sony about re-releasing Getting The Holy Ghost Across on CD. He'd also expressed his frustration about not getting an ear at Sony, and appreciated my trying as well.

Tragic that Chuck should leave us on the advent of said album being finally re-released.

It'll be a tough day today. :(

I met Chuck in 1996, the same year I discovered the internet and the Permanent Flame website. When I learned he lived in a nearby suburb, we met and had a nice lunch and talked about our mutual love of Bill Nelson's music. Soon after, I obtained the Multiplex Bill Nelson tribute CD that Chuck so lovingly produced and discovered a whole new group of friends and musicians of like mind.

I recently received an email from Chuck, telling me he had settled in the Nashville area, as his company had moved there. He was exciting about being a homeowner again, and having a large enough lawn to require a riding mower to maintain it.

This will be a difficult time for me as I contemplate a world without this gentle soul. Chuck will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

Tom

I met Chuck on a couple of occasions and he came across as a good guy.
He had great enthusiasm for promoting Bill's work through the Permanent Flame site and will of course be sadly missed.
He was a true gent and it was a privilege to have known him.

I corresponded alot w/ Chuck prior to my 1st trip over to the UK for N02 (and hung on his coat-tails like the lost pup that I was). He and Diane were excellent hosts for the travel newbie, as were some kind gents on the deck back of the Lizadeath. the beer took the edge off.

The next year, we didn't have time to speak as much and I was learning to make new friends. N04 I seem to recall us gettting together for a bit in London for the BBD and Beyond.

I was fortunate to live within 3 hrs of both Chuck and Mark Rushton and they each gave me a leg-up into a wonderful community.
My heartfelt condolences go out to family and friends of this good man.
