Good job Asterisk!

The sound has a little too much compression on there though, make sure you can hear the midrange and the bass in your mixes.

Keep up the good work!

Tom

Nice song, with a 60s flavor, but the production relies a bit too much on treble frequencies like it was standard at these times. It was on purpose? I often like to take advantage from developments in technical area, even if the concept is vintage. But congrats, hope to hear more from your work...

Tom and Johnny, the mix you are hearing is poor because I am not in a studio but am using iPod headphones trying to tweak rough mixes of MP3s on my laptop. Add to that the fact that I am possibly the world’s worst engineer, then you get these 'on-the-road' type mixes. Sorry about that. This particular track is from 1990 and I was probably still using a 4-Track cassette machine at the time. I didn’t go digital until many years after when I bought a Yamaha MiniDisc 8-Track machine. If anyone would like to give any of these tracks a proper mix, they are more than welcome.

Brilliant bouncy flouncy track Julien!
very commercial even in its demo state
and, as usual, intelligent lyrical imagery

Cheers Billy. And yes, very nonsensical lyrics! I have been a bit slack on thanking those who have commented this time. So big thanks to my mates Peter, Andy G., Pete Mecury, Ian, and Johnny de Mondo. Also to Carole and Gavin B, Tom Parsongs, and new man on the block, Johnny Hansen.

Cheers everyone. Much appreciated.

There's a real (justified) confidence about your songwriting and delivery of the music that transcends any limitations of the demo and accounts for itself in style! Really...its hard to believe, when hearing this stuff, that it isn't professionally available in fully worked-up form on vinyl, CD etc. In a fairer world etc.

Keep doing what you do.

John

John, such a very kind thing to say, and quite humbling coming from such a talented individual as yourself. But I can’t complain too much as music has done me well over the many years in spite of the fact that I can walk down any street and remain safe from being accosted by virtually everyone but panhandlers.
