The science fiction writer, Harry Harrison, passed away.

Quite prolific, he released scads of books & stories through the 1950s to the 1980s. One of my favorite was The Jupiter Legacy from 1970, (originally entitled The Plague From Space). I'd re-read it again just a few years ago. While technologically dated, it did have some interesting ideas going on.

Here is a link to his obit.

Sorry to hear this news. I remember reading some of Harry Harrison's work back in the 1960s in 'Analog' science-fiction magazine. He was one of several 'classic' science-fiction writers who filled my younger years with fantastic dreams.

Aye, Bill. I used to subscribe to Analog way back when as well.

Harry had stories in almost every science fiction collection released out there.

His talent will be missed.

Prime number, a collection of his short stories was my favourite.

RIP Harry,

One of the first & still one of the best SF writers I encountered on my journey through youth,

Make Room! Make Room!

I was confused at first thinking news had only finally arrived on George Harrisons’ father. Being the odd one out, I had not heard of this Harry.

I believe he wrote the novel that became the extremely underrated and far-sighted film Soylent Green.

RIP
