Cybermen too.

The Zarbi were scary.

The Zarbi were from the Web Planet episodes from Febuary 1965, I watched them as a 4 year old, scared the shit out of me

I bought the DVD a few weeks ago & have yet the summon up the nerve to watch it again :)

All six episodes still exist, rare for the Hartnell era,

They stepped out of the shopfront in Bentall's in Ealing, never has a dept store induced so much fear.

The idea of thought manipulation always scared me as a child - the Midwitch Cuckoos etc.

Indeed. Very sad loss. He had the ability to be charming and menacing at the same time, a kind of proto-Hannibal Lecter for kids!
