In the thread: Is this worth £71.71?

It says it only costs $30 but it was just under $50 (a wee bit over £32) by the time the shipping to the UK was factored in. But it was still a bargain. It is released on 22 May 2012.

And, it is simply called Colourbox

For the first time ever, 4AD have released the full double Colourbox album on one CD.
On the second CD you get all the 7” single versions with b-sides.
On the 3rd CD you get all the 12 inch mixes.
Finally on CD number 4 you get the rest of the Colourbox mini album,
an unreleased mix of Arena (which is a gorgeous song),
then all the BBC sessions that most folk never knew existed.
It contains 6 unreleased songs and two session versions of songs from the album.

In all, and very like the This Mortal Coil release, this brings together absolutely everything Colourbox created.

Thank you 4AD for making my dreams come true. I can’t wait to get hold of it now!

Stop Press - They have missed the instrumental version of Manic, which was on an obscure compilation LP. I have just emailed 4AD to ask them to add it as an extra track on the 4th CD. Fingers crossed.

I received a reply from 4AD. This is what they said -
Steve Webbon from 4AD Records wrote:
I'm aware of a few mixes and demos that aren't available on the compilation. The problem is that the master tapes have been lost. Martyn had a flood which destroyed many of his tapes. Since I concluded the production other cassettes have surfaced but we had to stop somewhere and it's not economically viable to keep spending money on the project. It's a limited edition of 2000 so it's more a labour of love and we'll be lucky to break even.
So I'm leaving it as the rather cumbersome "complete recordings released on 4AD".
That to me shows just how fragile music can be. The fact that they have pulled together as much as they have managed, is amazing.
I note that pre-orders on Amazon & HMV etc. are settling around the £19.99 mark, but I am happy with what I have already paid for. This box set will be one to cherish.

As for music that is a labour of love and we'll be lucky to break even. Well, that is all too familiar on this forum and, as a result, is why I support such ventures so much.

Previous estimated arrival date: May 30 2012

I have my box set and it is an object of beauty. 4AD have put a lot of care and attention into this.

To explain, you get 4 CDs, each in their own special slip case. You get the full Colourbox album with its 6 extra tracks. You get all the 7 inch versions of the singles and their B sides. You get all the 12 inch versions of the singles and their 12 inch B sides. Then you get the mini album, rare tracks (like Hot Doggie) and BBC session versions.

But even more, they have created 10 square cards each with album or single imagery in full glossy colour and on the back, they list the tracks for that release and where you will find them on the CDs. That is a neat touch.

And, the music has all been remastered from the original analogue tapes.

It really is a beautiful release and well in keeping with the astounding This Mortal Coil box set of last year.

Right now the Colourbox box set is for sale at about £30 from HMV, £16 from Amazon and about £18 on EBay.

It is a limited edition so I recommend that you grab it while you can. I would post a picture of my set, if I could (I don’t have a photo bucket!)

That's quite nice. And a very good illustration as to why proper spelling is sometimes quite crucial.
