Why can't the ad people hire someone to create a new jingle (I think that's what they used to be called) for their ad's.......... instead of being lazy and tacking on a song from the distant past with a very tenuous link to their message........ might get a few of the unemployed (Musicians!) off the streets..............

Would Strummer have approved?

Couldnt agree more-Totally out of place and not fitting at all.

That is all fine and dandy. But I am still waiting for 'In a Gadda Velveeta.' Come on you boring ad execs, get it together.

"Engines stop running but I have no fear" I can't believe they have used that line in an airline ad

If I am ever on a BA flight and the engines stop running - I will kak myself.

As they say on the safety demo "in the unlikely event of landing on water..." I have always loved that use of english

Perhaps this is why we never really get it. We always assume that to be ‘taken' by someone or something, that they have to have somehow deceived us. But clearly, be they ad men, bankers, politicians, or any other currently looked down upon ‘baddies', in retrospect, we can usually see that the only deception that we have experienced is that of our own, to not clearly understand exactly what it is that we have bought into. The choice of including those specifically lyrics, the wording in the landing warning, these are not mere accidents of happenstance. They actually spell things out for us. Can it be any clearer without dumbing it down into precise language? I think not.
