Have you picked up any interests as a result of following Bill and his music?

I got in to playing guitar and bass largely because of two records in the early eighties, one being 'Flaming Desire'.

I then, of course, had to buy an e-bow because of Bill. I used it on everything, and was useless with it.

After discovering 'Quit Dreaming', I started buying drum machines and whatever electronic instruments I could afford.

I read Wilde's work largely because Bill had quoted him.

I'm sure listening to Bill in my early teens helped develop my artistic sensibilities in general, which has rewarded me in later life.

How about you?

I took up Bill’s two hour rule. All demos are allowed a maximum of two hours from start to finish. And believe me, many sound as such. Also looked into the Rosecrusian Order because of Bill. Only to later find out that my mother was one earlier in her life.

Bill's Colaborations with other musicians made me discover artists I had never heard or even heard of. Such as David Sylvian and Theo Travis.

From Bill I have picked up obvious things like amazing music, by himself and other artists related.

I have also picked up from Bill a renewed interest in the use of the tremelo arm on my Strat 8)

Through Bill I would like to think that I've picked up some new friends via his website's forum

I am sure there are many other things I have picked up but those are the things that instantly come to mind.

Good thread Theremin !
Oh yes, If I said Bill hadnt inspired me I would be lying. Both Bill and early experimental OMD inspired me to buy a Casio VL Tone then a Korg 800 Poly synth as well as buying a Roland Dr Boss rythmn machine. I then went onto making a few tapes (Which I still have).Bills early 4 tracks send out a signal to me that the DIY home record method can be copied and enjoyed by us all.The end product of something so simple as sounds overlaid on one another still excites me to this day wondering how the final tune will come out.I also wanted a silver SG 2000 guitar which I remember trying out in music store in Newcastle obviously with no intention to buy because of the cost.At 48 I threw caution to the wind and ordered a Sunburst Finish SG1000 from Japan which sits looking at me in the music room.
Quite simply, all Bills output as well as synth music at the time was the soundtrack to my 80s youth.

I have a bigger appreciation of the arts in general, all due to Bill's influence. I have artwork and books by Cocteau which I would never have had otherwise. And I also now buy retro items from the 1950's era, such as lamps and ceramics all influenced by seeing photos of Bill's studio!! My eyes and ears have been opened to a whole new world. 8) :)

For me, it was nothing tangible, but rather a realization that to be an artist, you have to follow your one muse and not get sucked into the corporate vortex. I'll never be rich but I do what I love.

Eric, we're singing from the same hymn sheet!!!!! Always stayed true to my soul, do exactly what I love too, and Bill seems to encourage collaborations. My words would never be brought to life with you guys, and that's thanks to Bill. God bless you sir! Absolutely gorgeous music you make now.
I also discovered from here, that I lived in the house next door, when I lived in Anderson Street, Wakefield! Years apart, mind you, but a real shock nevertheless!
