Obviously it rubbed some people wrong to solicit like that . Not a big deal really, so maybe the offended responses will roll off her back like the request for donations will roll off the backs of the people who didn't appreciate the OP.

I was quite surprised at the responses, I must admit. I don't think Barbara posts very often in TWOTW, so maybe it caught people out a bit. I checked the link and it doesn't sound so bad. Maybe the nature of the thread and big shouty capital letters gave the wrong impression.

Just posted a note on the thread about Ian Nelson and then thought I'd see if anyone had posted any comments on this link. I have loved & admired Bill's work since 1975, because of his mixture of music, art and experimentation. I know from postings on these forums that many of you also love the work of other artists for exactly the same reasons. This is why I saw no harm in posting a link to Marvin's pledge page, a musician who also embraces all of the above. I also assumed that if people weren't interested, they would just ignore it, as I've found Nelsonians (well, at least the ones I know personally) to be a receptive & intelligent bunch of people. How wrong could I be!

Not sure why the number of postings I have made is significant, however you may have noticed the significance of some of my postings, if you have been paying attention. I read the forum every couple of days and post only when I feel I have something informative or important to share. (eg Mike Levon's death, details of his Remembrance Service & how to make a donation in his memory. Anyone remember these??) Thank you Mr Mercury , Play my theremin & Andy George . Also to Mr Magnetism himself who had the courtesy, instead of just spouting abuse like some of you, to check who I was & share this information with you.

Ms Crane. This thing happens from time to time. It's happened to me before a few times over the years. But people do have opinions and here, most of us are comfortable enough with language and use it frequently. Your own post illustrates this to be true. But I wouldn't let that cause you to reconsider your association here, if that is your meaning.

As to the number of postings, for awhile there was a rash of newbies who were here for what appeared to be nothing more than bent on making trouble. And a lot of that time, I was their main target. As a result every new member seemed suspect for many of us. I must confess that I had a go at what may have been you in another incarnation here because I feared that you may have been yet another alias of one of the worst abusers this site has ever seen. Hope that may help explain a little.

Not everyone here knows your long-standing connection with Bill's career and some may not care one wit. But all I am saying is do whatever you like but I suspect you are made of sterner stuff.

Barbara - I'm relatively new around here and have noticed some of the regulars can be somewhat blunt or too quick at posting an opinion, and in defence of Bill (as if he needed it) but I have found that they actually are not bent on ofending. Sean Mac often uses the ...fuck off...but I tend to find that it's not as rough as it sounds coming from him, and Brassneck is a capital fellow at heart.
