I can think of several perfect albums. That they follow from song to song without a low moment, keeping the mood of the theme or the music and style running and keeping you on the clouds and not leting you go till it stops spining.

Brain Salad Surgery (ELP)
Seventh Sojourn (Moody Blues)
Abraxas (Santana)
In the Court of the Crimson King (King Crimson)
Live in The Airage (also the most perfect live album I've ever heard)
Relayer (Yes)

How's that ?

Lot of good choices here. The album I'm currently enamored with, Jason Falkner's Presents Author Unknown, would be my pick as an exemplar of pop music pefection.

A kind Of Blue - Miles Davis

*Headslap* Of COURSE!!! How did I forget that one.

I consider myself a middling fan of both ELP and Yes, and yet I think two of the suggestions made in the thread for Brain Salad Surgery and Relayer are albums that I not only think are flawed, but don't represent the best work of each group. I think the first ELP album set a standard that none of the others matched and that Patrick Moraz lacked Wakeman's finesse, I think that Tales is a difficult, though brilliant record. But perfect? has to be The Yes Album-(and he contradicts himself by picking a non-Wakeman album)

But then, "A chacun à son goût"

You know, I had that one listed but took it off because it didn't look right next to the three 'A' ones 8)

Depending on tastes (as everything does) ...

Fripp & Eno - Evening Star
Tori Amos- 'Little Earthquakes'
Joni Mitchell -Blue
Bill has about a dozen (depending on the mood)
One Dove's only full cd
The Joshua Tree by you two
Smashing Pumpkins -Gish
George Winston -December
Led Zepplin ..... II
Jethro Tull -Songs From the Wood , Minstrel in the Gallery, Heavy Horses, or some of the other ones
Ludwig's Sixth
Bach- Brandeburg ... whatever

picking them isn't hard, but excluding all but one is impossible !!!
