There has been a lot said in this section of the forums about not advertising second hand BN product from eBay etc.

I would urge any BN fan that truly wants to stem the tide of profiteering to not buy this:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BILL-NELSON- ... 35be78e911

or CD's of any other artist for that matter, from this guy:

http://myworld.ebay.com.au/carlvbosch/? ... 4340.l2559

I have been watching this f***ing prick's behaviour on eBay for years. He/she/it (and it is probably the most appropriate term in this case) buys up rare CD's from many different artists with the intention of selling them for exorbitant profits.

This "person" obviously has no interest in the artists that they are profiting from other than how much money they can make out of the product.

They obviously care nothing for the music but only seek to exploit needy fans.

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO DO BN A FAVOUR IN THIS REGARD GIVE THIS PERSON A MISS.

Let them rot and make sure the copy of BN's CD sits on their shelves forever.

Whilst I share some of your sentiment I don't see how not buying this does BN a favour. The initial run has sold out, therefore if someone still wants the disc they have two choices, buy from these scumbags or get a copy ( also severely frowned upon)

Or on the basis of the speed in which this sold out, perhaps a second run is the solution. I won't feel cheated as one of the original purchasers. I know Bill has spoken before of the perils of slower moving stock but in this case it appears the run was too small. Either that or make it available as a download (I'll get me coat!!!!) :)

[b]Would like to add to this thread with a small 'Market Evaluation' borne out over 12 years as an EBay Member who knows more than most (but not everything) about the Bill Nelson OOP CD Market.

First and foremost i purchase OOP Bill Nelson CDs and have purchased many off of ebay at OOP Prices, because i have missed out on the original runs.
Still have 12 of the one's below to find!!

Conservative Average over the past two years for a lot of the scarcer CD's has run to £60-00 each
Today around the £30-40 mark, includes any of the following titles:

Getting The Holy Ghost Across
Whistling While The World Turns
Noise Candy
My Secret Studio Volume I - Juke Box For Jet Boy
Astral Motel
The Romance Of Sustain Volume One: Painting With Guitars
Astral Motel
Luxury Lodge
Plaything
Dreamland To Starboard
Custom Deluxe
Satellite Songs
Wah-Wah Galaxy
Rosewood: Ornaments And Graces For Acoustic Guitar Volume One
Orpheus In Ultraland
The Alchemical Adventures Of Sailor Bill
Neptune's Galaxy
Arcadian Salon
Secret Club For Members Only

I Reckon though, there is a new phenomenon of purchasing NEW limited print Bill Nelson Cd's and selling them at a profit
they are the 'bottom feeders' you are talking about i reckon.

One story a few months caught my eye though!
A Seller was selling all the above items because he was getting married and his new wife had all the exact same cd's, now is that a marriage made in heaven or what??!

It is a very difficult issue to my mind. Whilst I fully understand what you are saying and agree to a certain extent, what are fans to do who miss out on these very limited issues.

I was following this particualr CD on ebay.uk and it was sold by a British seller in Essex for £62.00!! Well out of my price range but obviously there are fans who are prepared to pay this premium on the second hand market.
As there were 500 copies only unless you only allow each person to purchase one copy, a somewhat draconian approach I feel, what can you do?
Whilst morally I'd agree with the 'Let them rot and make sure the copy of BN's CD sits on their shelves forever' attitude, how else do you obtain the music? For some fans of Bill the wait for a possible reissue is not how they wish to go hence the high prices for these CD's.

There was also a copy of 'The Alchemical Adventures of Sailor Bill ' that I was interested in as well, but missed out, it went for £37.50, again above what I can afford for a CD!
Whilst understanding 100% the reasons behind small runs, unfortunately its a fact of life that the more unscrupulous will see the opportunity for a 'nice little earner' :(

So have I but not from buyers who overtly exploit the market.

This discussion we are about to have has been run in these threads before so I won't enter into it again.

On this occasion I am indicating a specific seller who needs to be avoided because they have been exploiting many different bands' fans for years. Now he has added BN to the list.

If you want to continue to get Out Of Print CD's at decent eBay prices I would urge everyone here not to buy from this bottom-feeding scumbag.

Here's my opinion on this:
There's a big difference from listing an item as an actual auction, and listing an item with an inflated 'I'm only interested in a huge profit' buy it now price.
This particular seller, i have come across many times over the years (sells a lot of Porcupine Tree related stuff), and he/she pretty much always lists with huge buy it now prices
Needless to say, an auction gives us all the opportunity to bid and hope for the best. If the final price is a high one, then essentially that's our doing. An inflated buy it now price just shows the seller has no interest in anything other than lining their pockets

Thank you. My point entirely. I totally agree. PT are a great band by the way; and in my opinion.

If they are successful at selling the cd at a ridiculous price I guess more power to them. My guess is that many times there are no bids and the market will adjust the price.

Is there a limit on the number of copies one can buy of a single title on SOS?

Hopefully that would discourage profiteers like this.
