Well... there is an active auction for the DVD that's like new that's at 25 dollars. Not sure why anyone would think to pay fool-fishing prices when there's an active item.

I know it is not the right time, but I think there could be some humour to be found in the "Bill Me Later" payment option.

$25 is not a bad price for the original. Who knows what mess they might make of the re-issue!

Classic Rock Legends: Bill Nelson [DVD]

Crikey! returningman was right

£2,000 quid, some sort of new BN record there, I don't recall a higher price.

 I'd say that whoever is behind this has an extremely cynical attitude towards fans of my music...he either thinks they're gullible fools or is a complete idiot himself to believe that anyone would pay such an outrageous sum. Sometimes I wonder which planet we're on.

I just don't understand the need to draw attention to any of these potential rip-off merchants. This has got to piss Bill off to no end yet we do it all the time. A little sensitivity would be nice, no? :|

I've been away for a bit so this came as news to me.

It popped up on my Amazon home page and I enthusiastically looked at the product details.

I was a tad suspicious when I saw it was on Salvo (although their reissues usually are of a high standard) rather than on one of Bill's own imprints or Esoteric.

Just ploughed all my way through the posts and decided that I will not buy this, much though that I would like to have it as I missed out on the original dvd.

I see other artists like Roy Harper and VDGG are also having audio cd's issued.

Shame that Bill can't bring out his own version.

I could not disagree more... the fact that some believe BN music is worth fantastic amounts can only fuel the notion that Bill's music IS valuable.

Now if you kept pointing out that Bill's CDs were being blown out at 99 cents I might agree, but to point out that his music is deemed of value to many can't be anything but good.
If you were referring to his not getting any of the pie, I'm sure Bill has accepted that after his CDs sell what happens to them is up to the owner... a bad deal for any musician but hardly worth losing sleep over.

I compare this to someone complaining of another birthday, yet when you point out the alternative they become oddly quiet.

All I am saying is that this is Bill's house and although he is fully aware that this sort of thing happens all the time, I just thought it might be more respectful to not continually flash the fact before his eyes. Here we're already speaking to the converted who already know quite well the value of his music.

I suppose I can see both sides of this issue.

I truly loathe bringing up anything that'd nettle Mister N... but in this instance, there are issues involved that we -- as his self-styled most-loyal fans -- ought consider. With every item not directly putting a few pennies in Bill's pocket, we need to balance our individual ethics against the joy we derive from his recordings & performances.

Speaking for myself, I can but hope that BN understands how important his catalogue has been to me (as both listener & guitarist) & continues to be, & that I would certainly never obtain (say) bootlegged recordings or unauthorized streams if this encouraged anyone to rip him off.

But when I stumble across some old Be Bop Deluxe broadcast bootleg, I struggle to resist. I want to hear it, to hang on every note, to be in awe at every instance of the crystalline wonder.
