Bill,

Could you share some recollections regarding events surrounding this photograph?

That photograph was taken by Mick Tucknott, back in 1964, when I had joined a Wakefield band called 'The Teenagers.' Mick was the band's bass guitarist. They were well established in the area, playing in pubs and working men's clubs. The jacket I'm wearing was electric blue with a black collar and was the band uniform. I'd inherited it from a previous member of the band called 'Ted,' whose vacant position I filled...('though being a very skinny kid at that time, I didn't really fill the jacket at all, which was far too big.) :) The band all had 'stage names,' and I was encouraged to dream up one for myself. I remember that Mick Tucknott's stage name was 'Buddy Midnight.' I adopted the name 'Tex Gibson' for my own stage name.

In the photo' you can see my Gibson ES 345 Stereo guitar, which was still relatively new...I'd placed my initials, 'WN' in gold 'stick-on' letters, on the pickguard. You can just make them out.

The other guitar is a Danelectro Bellzouki, which was a teardrop-shaped 12 string guitar. Pretty rare now...wish I'd hung on to it.

The photograph was taken, I think, in one of the Yorkshire pubs the band played in, hence the decor. I had no idea, at that time, that my life would be dedicated to making music and playing the guitar for a living.

I just goggled up these images. You can probably pick one up for around US$1000...... any takers?
